2017 Camp Invention: Launch
Who can attend: Students Entering Grades 1-6

This summer launch your child’s imagination at Camp Invention. All-new modules mean all-new fun as children invent, build, question, and discover. Children entering 1st through 6th grade experience real-world problem solving and creative thinking as they transform the terrain and ecosystem of a distant exoplanet, take risks as future entrepreneurs, blast rockets and rubber chickens, and wire a circuit to create their own Spy Gadget Alarm Box! Local educators lead a week of hands-on activities that fuel children’s 21st century STEM skills.

2017 Invention Project: Be Bold, Think Big, Never Give Up!

Take fun to the next level with Invention Project, a one-of-a-kind program for 6th through 8th grade students. Learn business skills while exploring circuitry, energy, bioengineering, and economics to create smart gear and so much more! You’ll use these abilities to research, pitch, and invest in your product in a team filled with fellow creative thinkers! When you complete Invention Project, you won’t have a patent — yet — but you’ll have what you need to make anything possible.

Jump In! Exploring the Science & Fun of H2O
Who can attend: Students entering Grades 4-7

Millersville Technology Camps
Throughout the summer months, the Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology at Millersville University of Pennsylvania hosts a variety of technology camps for children and teens from grades 3-12. The camps offer participants the opportunity to receive exciting hands-on experience with fascinating technology, while stimulating creative minds-on learning. Technology & Engineering Camps are normally half-day, 15 hour per week sessions.  Activities can range from building robots to web coding to creating animated videos or learning about cyber security.

Robotics Camps
Working with a buddy, your child will enjoy fun, hands-on projects building, programming and animating robots using LEGO®. Each session encourages creativity and imagination as kids brainstorm, build and experiment with amazing robots. It’s a wonderful way to develop critical STEM and problem solving skills.

Coding Camps
Blast into big-time fun! Your child will learn computer programming through engaging, hands-on projects. The kids love animating stories and creating video games they can play with friends. Plus, our technology platform is seriously cool… kids have thousands of backgrounds, props, characters and music to choose from to help bring their imaginations to life.

Engineering Camps
Engineers hold the power to transform the world, one idea at a time! In our engineering camps, your child will turn into a real engineer: designing, evaluating and redesigning machines and super structures. (The creations get more and more amazing!) Every project has a clever theme to spark your child’s imagination and turn problem solving and skill building into a fun game.

The People’s Shakespeare Project
CAMP WILL 2017 – rising 6th-9th grade students
FEAR NOT THE BARD:a Shakespeare Acting Intensive – rising 10th-12th grade students

Camp Will – Mornings are spent studying movement, voice, improvisation, acting, text, combat, etc, etc.  During the afternoon campers are rehearsing a one-hour abridged A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Shakespeare’s hilarious and beloved comedy.  Campers will perform the play on the last day of each session.
Fear Not the Bard –  Our artistic director, Laura Howell, will teach this actor’s intensive along with guest artists specializing in clowning, stage combat, voice and improvisation.  Students will explore 2-3 Shakespeare comedies through monologue and scene work and share at the final presentation, July 12.

Lancaster Liederkranz Sommer Singspiel
Sommer Singspiel is a camp that builds skills in music skills (including singing, playing instruments, creative movement), and German (language, culture, and traditions – including soccer!) For students in grades 3-12. Students do not need to know German prior to attending camp.

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Summer Exploration CampsDo you like to fix things, make things, or understand how things work by taking them apart? Wouldn’t it be great if you could earn college credit while having fun exploring your passion? If you’re in high school, the Summer Exploration Camps are the perfect opportunity to earn college credit and have fun.

Each of the Harrisburg University Summer Exploration Camps takes a unique look at a field of science or technology, or the business of science and technology. While learning is the key goal for these day camps, you’ll be surprised how much fun you can have letting your imagination run wild with the potential inventions, technologies, or scientific issues you can explore. Plus many of these non-residential camps allow you to earn college credits.

These camps are for incoming high school students through high school seniors. All the camps are day camps. Registration for these camps closes 30 days prior to the start of each camp.
